With the warm weather approaching we need to get ready to protect our skin from the sun! We know how much you love to enjoy the Spring sunshine, but with that comes the responsibility to protect your skin. As we begin to spend more and more time outside, these 4 tips will help limit sun damage while still being able to enjoy an amazing sun-filled summer!
Sunscreen is a MUST in our summer skincare routines! It is so important to apply SPF before leaving the house every morning to protect our skin from damage caused by sun exposure. When picking a sunscreen, it is important to choose one with SPF 30 or higher that also includes UVB and UVA protection. In addition to applying the sunscreen 15-30 minutes prior to stepping outside, re-applying this SPF is crucial throughout the day to keep up the protection.
Like the skin, eyes can be damaged by the sun so it is important to take steps to protect ourselves. Sunglasses should be our new favourite summer accessory, and not just for fashion. BUT not just any sunglasses, it is important that your sunglasses have UV protection to take care of our eyes when spending time outside.
3. Sun Hats
Hats can be worn for more than just fashion! Sun hats can be a key aspect in protecting ourselves from sun damage. Remember, your part line is in direct exposure to the sun. We suggest wearing a hat that covers your scalp, made out of impenetrable material (UPF 50), with a brim measuring 3 to 5 inches.
4. Limit Your Time In The Sun
I know we are all so excited about the warm weather but it is important to spend time in the sun in moderation. Sunscreen and sunglasses can only protect us from the sun so much, sometimes you just need to chill in the shade to keep your skin safe from exposure. Stay cool my friends!
